Every two years, the ConIFA organizes a World Football Cup for federations which are not allowed to compete within the FIFA competitions. From unrecognized States to ethnic minorities and fighting diaspora, they all gather during one week to play football of course but also with the hope to rise attention to their cause... In 2016 the competition took place in Abkhazia. There, 12 teams including Northern Cyprus, Iraki Kurdistan, Western Armenia diaspora, Chagos diaspora, Pendjab, Padania and of course Abkhazia competed for the other World Cup.
